Week 11

This week we learned about "Measuring the cost". I’ve learned that achieving a balance between life and career is a dynamic and ongoing process, not a fixed destination. The speakers, Ann Miura-Ko and Randy Komisar, share insights that highlight the importance of setting priorities, understanding trade-offs, and aligning your work with what you truly value. Ann emphasizes that entrepreneurship, especially at the early stages, often requires sacrifices, but it’s important to be deeply passionate and believe in the purpose of the work. Similarly, Randy stresses the importance of making conscious decisions about what matters most in life, acknowledging that the balance between money, family, and personal fulfillment is always shifting. He explains that while it’s possible to achieve financial success, it often comes at the cost of other things you love, and at some point, you may have to trade financial gain for personal happiness and fulfillment. This has made me reflect on my ...

week 10

This week we learned about dreaming big dreams, understanding what we want from life and how we can best achieve our big dreams. I learned from the video "Your Emotional Fingerprint" and Elder Dallin H. Oaks' talk "The Challenge to Become," I’ve learned a lot about personal growth and self-awareness. The idea of the "Emotional Fingerprint" teaches us that each of us has a unique set of emotions and traits that drive our decisions, actions, and feelings. By understanding these traits, we can become more in control of our lives and make better choices, rather than reacting automatically to situations. For example, the Cherokee story about the two wolves teaches that the "wolf" we choose to feed whether it's the good one filled with love, kindness, and hope, or the evil one filled with anger, jealousy, and fear grows stronger in our lives. This is a powerful reminder that we have the ability to choose how we respond to life and what kind of ...

Week 9

This week we have learned what great aspects we should acquire to become a great leader. The videos and readings from this week's lesson have taught me valuable lessons on trust, ethics, and leadership, all of which are key to personal and professional success. We watched a video, featuring Guy Kawasaki, emphasizes the importance of trust in building relationships. Kawasaki explains that trust begins with giving trust to others first. He highlights examples like Amazon, Zappos, and Nordstrom, which build trust by offering customer-friendly policies. For instance, Zappos' free return shipping policy demonstrates trust in their customers. Kawasaki also shares a mindset shift between "bakers" and "eaters." Bakers, who focus on creating opportunities for others, are trustworthy people, while eaters are more selfish and zero-sum in their thinking. The key takeaway is that trustworthiness comes from a selfless attitude of helping others, rather than always expecti...

Week 8

During this week in class I had the opportunity to reflect on some powerful messages from different sources, and they all left me thinking deeply about personal growth, perseverance, and leadership. One of the most impactful talks I encountered was from President Thomas S. Monson, who spoke about humility, perseverance, and the importance of continually doing God’s work. He shared personal stories from his own family’s history, highlighting their unwavering faith in the face of hardship, which reminded me of the importance of staying steadfast in our beliefs, even when life is challenging. The emphasis on "moving forward" and not giving up, despite obstacles, strongly resonated with me. His words about feeling the Lord's guidance and the strength that comes from relying on God reinforced my own belief that through faith and diligence, we can achieve great things. In addition to President Monson’s talk, I watched a video about "You Can Do Anything," which tied in...
