Week 2
This week we read/watched Randy Pausch's last lecture "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" Given at Carnegie Mellon University Tuesday, September 18, 2007
Randy Pausch was able to achieve many of his childhood dreams because he had a clear vision and a strong determination to make them happen. He believed in setting specific goals and working hard to reach them. Randy also emphasized the importance of perseverance and not giving up, even when faced with obstacles. He often spoke about the support he received from friends, family, and mentors, which helped him along the way. His passion for teaching and sharing knowledge inspired not only himself but also those around him, creating a positive environment where dreams could flourish.
I believe dreaming is very important. Dreams give us direction and motivation. They help us think about what we truly want in life and inspire us to take action. Without dreams, it’s easy to feel lost or stuck in a routine. Having dreams encourages us to grow, take risks, and explore new possibilities. Even if we don’t achieve every dream, the journey towards them often leads to valuable experiences and personal growth.
One of my childhood dreams was to become a movie director. I have always loved movies—the stories, the visuals, and the emotions they convey. Watching films inspired me to think creatively and imagine different worlds. I dreamed of telling my own stories and making films that could touch people’s hearts. However, as I grew older, I realized that becoming a director is not easy. It requires not only talent but also a lot of hard work and dedication. There are many skills to learn, such as writing, cinematography, and editing. Additionally, breaking into the film industry can be very competitive, which can be discouraging. Due to this I looked for a different dream that I felt was more obtainable.
